GEWR 21.1KM / First ever half-marathon
2:06 PM
Finally back for a proper update. Exams are not over yet... but I'm almost there! I've some time for a breather so here goes. :-)
Joined Great Eastern Women's Run this year! And finally not 10km but 21.1km! My first ever. I know it sounds pretty insane.. since it's a more than double increase.. but yeah, I did it! With God's providence.
Honestly I felt so unprepared for this race. I trained only 2 times for this race?! I must be insane right lol. But actually it's because of the hectic schedule and the horrible haze!!! Couldn't even train properly during my pockets of free time. So I only managed to train twice, covering only 8km+ before the race day. Furthermore, the haze condition wasn't getting any better and the race might have been cancelled! So in my heart I was just like half-worried lol.
But THANK GODDDDDDDD. Thank God for clearing the skies that morning! The PSI levels were really bad for the days before. The sky cleared so magically on the race day itself! Thank God for that although I felt damn screwed when I woke up HAHA
My half-marathon partner-in-crime. We were so sleepy waking up at 2am+ to catch the shuttle bus! But really thank God for still giving us the strength to go on.
My first half-marathon, my first women's race. Pretty interesting experience! Was like worried, sleepy and excited all at the same time while we walked to the starting point.

One of the images that was captured by the official photographers. This was taken near the end so I looked like I was going to collapse anytime.
Actually, it didn't turn out as bad as I thought it'd be! I clocked my fastest ever 10km and met so many nice ladies on the way who gave encouraging words! Passed by so many places (including those during my previous races). But.. of course it wasn't all smooth-sailing. At the 6km mark I was just thinking to myself.. "Why didn't I sign up for 10km??! If I did, I'd have been more than halfway through.." HAHAH and at the 12km mark I was thinking, "Maybe I should give up and wait for the bus to bring me to the end point.." and etc during certain points LOL. The worst slope was the Marina Barrage. We had to run through the whole Barrage like whaaaaaaaaaaaaat. That was around the 16km mark and I just wanted to roll down the slope then.
Okay, but despite all those negative thoughts, I made it to the finishing line without any cab/rolling. And I was given this horrible sparkling water. Looks so atas but I hate sparkling water so...
Yay and we are done!!! The post-race carnival was so good?!?! Like they had massage areas (like legit ones), many food and drinks stations and even a powder room?! Really worth all the money I paid.
And yay another achievement unlocked!!!! :-)
Will I ever go on to complete a full marathon?!?!?! We shall see how.............. hahaha goodbye for now. :-)
