My first 10km for 2015.

1:40 AM

Whoopppp just completed my very first 10km for the year!

Although I started to run more often since last April, 10km is still a little challenging for me. I hope, with more training, 10km will soon be a breeze for me.. but I guess there's still a long way to go!

Since I haven't blogged about my first 10km (in my life), I shall do so now lol. Went for the 10km for Race Against Cancer in August 2014, and clocked my first official 10km. I said official because I managed to clock 10km during my training back then.

So.. why did I suddenly decide to join the run at the marathon? Well, there're many reasons for it. Back then, we had so much intense training in school of NAPFA during PE, and also my physical training during Taekwondo. So I just thought to myself, why not just build on the stamina I had (then)? It'll be much easier than starting by myself.. so I began to run more often. Another trigger was just during this random day, when I was at the library studying with Emily & Songen. The Jurong Lake Run was taking place near the library and after looking at them, I suddenly felt the urge to join one immediately.. and I went home to sign up for RAC immediately. Also, I felt that it'd be a very good accomplishment to have right after I turn 18, and so I was really keen on joining one! There were many other reasons too but I shall stop here haha but the ones above are the main reasons!

My first official 10km? I never thought I'd do it.. and what's even more shocking, I did it alone. Doing it alone was totally fine for me since I usually run alone during my trainings. The good thing about running alone is that I can go at my own pace that I like.. haha but also, I'll be more tempted to stop when I'm tired. Anyway, I was still really proud of myself then because I used to be the girl who would say "no" or "never" to running lol. However, after RAC, I took quite a long break until my next run. My stamina dropped so much and I was quite unmotivated to run because I feel tired even more easily.

Thus.. I decided to sign up for another 10km this year. Firstly to motivate myself to go for my daily runs and also for the awesome experience again. This time, I had a running buddy, Michelle, with me! It's my first time running with somebody (kinda in my entire life lol) but I was really glad that we did and completed this 10km together!

Instead of stopping when I feel tired, I'll think that I need to go on not to burden my running buddy! It was a very good motivation to keep me going throughout.. haha although we did stop at times for short breaks. But compared to RAC, I stopped much lesser which is a great accomplishment hahaha lol.

A shot taken before the flag off heheh.

Some shots of the starting point. There were so many people and we were so far away from the starting point?!

Bunch of tired people after the 10km lol. Didn't take much shots of the venue because I was too tired after the run and all I wanted was water sobs.

We were tired but super happy!! Really love the feeling of completing a long distance run. To make things even better, the route of Marina Run was really beautiful! Just stayed around for approximately an hour taking pictures here and there. We were using self-timer and there was this couple that came to us and asked if we needed help lol. Really love such helpful people but it's so rare in SG.

While queuing to collect our baggage.. which took so long hahaha. Was so famished then lol.

Us with our super well-deserved dinner & finisher tee! Only started eating at 9pm+.. thankfully there were free flow drinks at the restaurant we dined at so I was busy hydrating myself lol.

Really thank God for bringing me through this run well! I was praying hard that it'll be a smooth run because the recent runs I had were just terrible. Although I was still hurting at times during the run, it was much more bearable then the times during my training. So blessed by Him, granting me with a good condition for the run, the great weather & also Michelle! It felt much better that there's someone there with you, conquering every kilometer together. Thank God for the beyond amazing experience, and this is yet another great memory created in 2015!

Here's to hoping that I'll be able to achieve more running milestones for the year ahead! Planned a few more to join but I shall see how things go.... ok bye heheh.
