BKK // Stuck in July
8:30 PMDay 1
At the airport! Our flight was at 6am so the airport was pretty empty when we arrived to check-in. Thank Emily's dad for driving us over to the airport at such an unearthly hour!!
Mandatory shot of the flight ticket lol.
Yay landed! Got our prepaid cards for convenience (Google Maps and communication) and there we were on our very first cab ride to our hotel!
Was kinda shocked when we arrived at the hotel (The Berkeley Hotel)! Super big, spacious and grand. The staff there had very good service and they were so friendly! Also, we could check into our hotel when we arrived at 12-ish when the check-in time was supposed to be 3pm.
A picture of the room! Very spacious and the toilet was pretty big hahaha.
After settling down for awhile, we headed out to the streets where the shopping and eating began~
One really dangerous thing in BKK: there are no proper pedestrian crossings! Had to jaywalk 90% of the time and the drivers there are pretty reckless. Felt like we were putting our lives on the line whenever we had to cross the road lolol.
Our first stop in BKK: Sabx2 Wanton Mee!
It's a pretty famous food outlet in BKK so we had to try it. The verdict is, it lived up to its rave!!! Portion was pretty small though (explaining ossiepokkie's pose hahaha).
They had pig trotter rice there too and it was yummy too! I really liked the gravy with the rice hahaha.
The shop was packed when we arrived and there was a queue! But the turnover rate was really fast so we got our seats in no time.
Went to The Platinum Mall after our meal!
We were pretty shocked when we stepped in because there were so many people with huge (like really HUGE) bags of purchases. I guess that made us expect a little more from the mall.
Sad to say, we didn't get much. What more, we walked like 80-90% of the whole mall in 3h or so? Was slightly disappointed but we kept our hopes high for the next few days of shopping at the other places.
We bought this pair of sandals outside the mall though! Pretty cool cause we could actually customize the design that you'd like to have!
Decided to head to a cafe to eat and rest our feet~
At After You!!!
The interior of the cafe!
Chocolate x Strawberry toast!
And the classic Shibuya Honey Toast! It was really good omg.
Happy with good food~ :-)
Off to our next stop: Asiatique!
Had to take a ferry after alighting from a BTS.
Arrived after a 15-20 min ride!
The whole place has a very Westernized theme, which is obviously targeted to tourists! But it's so pretty~
Decided to settle our dinner there! We just went into one randomly lol.
My very first coconut drink there!
Yay food. It was really delicious!!! Glad we chanced upon this shop and decided to head in heheh.
Another impromptu thing we did: take a ferris wheel ride! It was actually pretty scary lol cause the speed is fast (unlike SG flyer) and the cabin shakes!!! Was like screaming in fear during the first round and they kept making fun of me sobz. But I was okay for the next 3 rounds lolol.
One with the ferris wheel!
Night view. :-)
Very lucky to chance upon this "Good Old Day" food street there!
All the food there looked so good but we were kinda exploding from our dinner so we only got some food.
Giant lime juice. Loved it!
Couldn't resist and bought the sausages with bacon!
Ended off the day like so!
Day 2
Started the day really early at 4am+! We wanted to go to the Pratunam Morning Market which opens at 5am and closes at 7am. #thethingsgirlsdoforshopping
We were in our pjs hahaha. Unglamorous but it's the best outfit for shopping lol. Sad to say (again), we didn't buy much! In fact, I was the only one who bought something (but like only 2 pieces). Prices were low but there wasn't much of our style.
Bought this Thai milk tea on the way back which was so good!!! Most of the Thai milk tea are too sweet for my liking but this is like the perfect concoction.
Back to the hotel to swim!!
We were like the first to arrive there and we had the whole pool to ourselves for quite a while. :-)
Pretty sky~
We kinda just played around in the water and swam for just a bit hahaha.
Washed up and ready to start day 2!
We walked around the area near our hotel and got some street food for our breakfast!
Shocked at how cheap everything was. Spent like around SGD2 on all of these?! And they were pretty decent-tasting too!
The mall for that day was Union Mall! Read that the customers here are mostly the locals!
It's a pretty huge mall and there weren't many people there. Did manicure and shopped after. Got quite a number of things there too and all of us bought quite a few things!
Next stop: Chocolate Ville!
It has a very Westernized feel to it as well!
Payphone booth without the payphone lolol.
What a view. :-)
Took so many photos there because every single stop is just too pretty!
They have some food there too! Yummy looking desserts.
The open dining concept. They only have 1 restaurant there but the dining area is spread across the whole Chocolate Ville!
I shall just let the pictures do the talking hahaha.
My manicure ft. flowers at Choc Ville.
View from the Observation Deck! It was actually pretty high.
Condensed Milk x Choc donuts!
Night view~
Went back to Pratunam for dinner!
Food.
Us. (lol getting lazy to caption hahaha)
Went to the Night Market near our hotel after dinner!
I kinda like this night market because you can actually customize most of the things sold there!
Like this shop that sold bags/passport cases/laptop covers etc.
Went back to rest for the day after walking the night market. :-)
Day 3
Making our way to On Lok Yun for breakfast!
The shop has this very old school vibe!
Yay breakfast food!
I LOVE THIS OMG T_T
Their signature dish - bread x their homemade kaya!
It's eaten like this! Not bad but I love my condensed milk toast more heheh.
They also sell freshly made bread! Wanted to buy but I figured that it wouldn't be fresh by the time I fly home lol.
This uncle was so nice and friendly towards us!!! :-)
Siam Center next!
*heart eyes*
Left the mall for the street shopping nearby!
Mango Tango for desserts!
Loved this omg. Hands down the best mango smoothie I ever had in my life!!!
Mango sticky rice!
And some other mango dessert. Their mangoes are really fresh and sweet!
Hopped to Petite Audrey for another round of desserts.
Diabetic drink lolol. Or maybe it's just too sweet for my liking.
Thai milk tea crepe cake!
Tom Yam pizza which was super yumz.
Next stop was the MBK Mall where went to do our hair hahaha. #taitailife Yay to smooth and silky hair after the wash and styling!
Cabbed back to Central World after, and by some stroke of luck we saw this! A rather funny occurrence because once we got off the cab, we saw a bunch of people running over from the side road and screaming hahaha.
Not a fan but hello!
Went to the Big C supermarket after that and bought a lot of snacks!
Headed over to the street stalls near Central World to grab our dinner!
There were so many stalls and we bought so much!
Our dinner back at the hotel!
What's a meal in Thailand without a coconut! The view was pretty awesome too! (sorry to those who were stuck in the jam lol)
The daily jams in BKK.
Went for a massage after that!
Hi Emily hahaha.
Went to shop here again lolol.
Went back to the hotel to lay out our loots (#piglife).
Day 4
One last picture near our hotel! Wandered around to buy some food again.
Got this nice thai milk tea again!!
Checking out~
One last picture at our hotel lobby!
Forgot to make mention of this guy. He's so nice omggggg. He helped us to get our cab every morning by asking for one through his walkie talkie and then he'll tell the cab driver in detail as to where we were heading to! & because we prefer to go by the meter, he'd help us get one cab driver who's willing to! Really thankful to be served by such a nice staff!
Our main stop for the day!
Streets and streets of shopping. It was such a big area.
This was so good too!!!
Finally tried the coconut ice-cream too. Super refreshing to eat in the scorching hot weather!
Couldn't continue after like 3h of walking. Super hot and just too many areas to cover! But we still got quite a number of things at Chatuchak! Went back to Platinum Mall after that!
Our late lunch!
Got some freshly made mini pancakes on our way back to collect our luggage from the hotel!
Our sad looking luggages hahaha.
Goodbye BKK!
Ready to scoot back!
Really thankful that I got to go on this trip before school started and especially with such great company! It was a rather impromptu decision to go and I'm so glad that we did. Had a good time exploring new places and just chilling around! Thank God for granting us with a safe and smooth trip. No idea when will be the next. Meanwhile, time to focus on what's important! Till the next update! :-)
