Yay to the first ycg of the year with Phileo CCK! It's also our first in 2 weeks due the Christmas and New Year break etc. Was kinda missing the ycg sessions during the break sobz. :-(
We started on a new series today and it's based on a book titled "If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat" by John Ortberg. The title may seem very intimidating on the first read but it's actually a struggle/situation that we face in our daily lives.
The focus on today's lesson was on our faith! A very cliche and arguably over-taught topic in church or ycg but it just never gets old! With the constant struggles and challenges we face in our daily lives, these teachings serve as a reminder that we've to constantly renew our faith in this walk with God. :-)
Main gist of today's lesson on the ways to strengthen our faith:
1. Recognising God's Presence
Claiming that we believe vs really believing it genuinely. We've to constantly check our hearts for that so that we won't get weary in this walk with Him.
2. Ability to discern between faith and foolishness
Not mistaking your own desire or want as God's calling. This is a constant struggle for me. The very simple solution is to pray to seek for answer and direction. Had a relatively long conversation with my sister about this before and I was so glad that it was taught in today's lesson. Thank God for speaking to me through today's teaching!
I'm really looking forward to the upcoming installations of this series as well!
The title of this book is has a very similar idea to the lyrics in Oceans by Hillsong that goes:
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
Especially the ones in bold! The words in bold usually repeat in my head whenever I'm facing a tough time in life.
I thank God for today's lesson and just being able to have a short but sweet time of fellowship with Phileo CCK. I was really so tired from a day of travelling but being at ycg always brings so much peace in my heart. Thank You Lord for being my fortress and blessing me with them. I am really so blessed. :-)
