End of another chapter

10:51 PM

29th Jan was the last day of my work at the second work place I started after As. Been working there for approximately 1 year+ and it felt surreal that I have ended work there.

Throughout the 1 year+, I got to know many different kids because of the non-conventional setting that the tuition centre adopts. it's probably about 30 to 40 of them? It feels like I'm ending my term with a class that I taught of a year haha. I'll really miss them, especially to my favourite kids like Zachary, Renae, Ashlee, YowRui, Illyssa etc (though some have left already) and to those I couldn't say a proper goodbye to. Although some of them can really make you want to puke blood while teaching them, but there're also the many others who're just a bundle of joy.

Just wanted to share this short happening on my last day with Zachary for memories sake :-)

On my last day there, he was just dressed in this super cute outfit on my last day. Yellow/green striped top with neon leggings?! Just too adorable!!! *heart eyes*

Thankfully I got to teach him for the last time on my last day! I also informed him about it that day. It was actually quite funny because I already told him about it the previous week but I think he thought I was kidding and he just brushed it off.

On my last day, this was how it went; I was teaching another kid and the student asked me, "Teacher, are you coming next Friday?"

I replied, "No, I'm not coming anymore, today's my last day here."

At that time, Zachary was beside him because I was teaching him as well. When I turned over and looked at him, he literally had a frozen expression. He was just stoning for a good 5s or so lol. After he broke out of his shock, he told the student who asked me the question, "Sometimes Miss Lim will be absent one!"

So I clarified, "I'm not coming anymore, today's the last day I'll see you all!"

The "why" questions started coming in and the other students who overheard asked if I had some major exams going on or what hahaha lol so cute~

Right.. before them some of them asked if I was married and if I've kids lololol like whattttt. I think kids just associate their teachers as married with kids, because that was how I was like back then heh . #guilty Told them I was still in university and they asked, "Then why are you a teacher?" Haha sometimes their questions are just so adorable. :-)

Anyway, back to Zachary, I tried to help him with as many of his worksheets as possible before I left. Before he left, he was saying, "I don't want to come anymore... If you're not going to come, then I don't want to come anymore!" I was really so touched by what he said omg T_T No tears but my heart melted. Told him that he has no choice though haha. Gave him a tiny chocolate as a "parting gift". Figured that such gifts are more practical for kids like them.

On the surface, he appears to be a very rebellious and mischievous boy, but deep down, he's such an innocent and precious boy. He's always giving me that major adorable smile whenever he steps in, which really takes all the troubles I have in my mind. He's also always chasing after me all over the whole classroom shouting "Miss Lim Miss Lim!" I was so embarrassed when he did so the first few times, but I got used to it. It was only until he started announcing to the other students to call me Miss Lim too hahaha. Thankfully no one else did eventually if not I'll be embarrassed to no end.
Another super cute thing is that he always loves to put his face in front of mine and he'd scrunch his face while doing so. He does it when I don't give him the attention he's calling for. Then he'd act busy when I finally get to him.

Anyway just a disclaimer, I did not tell him to call me Miss Lim, neither did I told him that my name was Miss Lim. It was my previous colleague who told him so when he was finding me when I didn't work on one of the days he went! So ever since then, once I wasn't there, he'd ask my colleague "where's miss lim" instead hahaha. And yeah, ever since then, he started calling me Miss Lim.

I don't think I can ever finish writing how much joy he brought me over the past year. I recorded it down elsewhere so I guess that's sufficient for me to look back in the future! I really thank God for planning this; for me to meet all the kids, and of course especially Zachary who brought me so much joy. One regret is that I never got to take a picture with him! I'd love to someday, perhaps when I meet him on the streets or something hahaha.

(opps I think this post became a spazzing over Zachary post hahahahaha)

Anyway to sum it all up, I'm really so thankful to meet all the kids there. Work might have seemed dreadful and tiring at times, but the satisfaction that comes from teaching them fills me.

Now it's time for me to close this chapter and move on to the other plans that the Lord has in store for me. It's painful to leave the kids, but I'll trust and obey and see where the Lord brings me to. Thank you Lord once again for this beautiful memory that I'll keep deeply in my heart. Maybe I'll meet the kiddos someday again? :-) Because we'll never know how the Lord's plans will go.

Till the next time kiddos! :-)

Ending off with this beautiful song by Chris Tomlin :-)
